The fifth impression. In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt detail. With a frontispiece and seventy monochrome photographic plates. Collated complete. A guide to gardening and flowers, divided by each month of the year, by Gertrude Jekyll. Jekyll was a popular British horticulturist, garden designer, writer and artist. She has been described as 'a premier influence in garden design' by British and American gardening experts. The previous owner's bookplate to the front paste-down and a contemporary ink inscription dated 1899 to the front free endpaper.
Condition
In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with some marks to the boards and light shelf wear to the edges. Fading to the spine. Hinges starting but firm. Age-toning to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front paste-down and contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper. Internally, binding strained. Page 15 is loosening and may become detached on further handling. Pages generally bright and clean with some age-toning to the edges and the occasional spot and handling mark.
