Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce, With Dustwrapper

Lennox Kerr joined the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve during World War One, though he was only sixteen. He went on to become a seaman in the Mercantile Marine after the war, and though he dabbled in a lot of careers, he travelled extensively to Australia, the US, and Western Arctic. 'Ice' is a novel Kerr wrote about his experiences at the Arctic sea. Kerr wrote thirty-two children's books during his life, most of them with a nautical theme. With illustrations by William Kermode, who worked predominately in linocuts. He is possibly best known for illustration 'The Patriot's Progress' by Henry Williamson.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, with the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Very minor marking to the front board. Fading to the rear hinge. Offsetting to the pastedowns, and to the recto of the front endpaper, and the verso of the rear endpaper. Spotting to the foredge. Dustwrapper has some light edgewear, with minor markings to the flyleaves. Closed tears to the rear hinges.Pages are bright. The occasional spot, mostly to the frontispiece and title page, and to the edges of pages, due to the spotting to the foredge.
