What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Ian Cameron was the pseudonym for Donald Payne, and English author, who also wrote under the name ‘James Vance Marshall’. He published many books, including ‘Walkabout’, ‘The White-Out’, and ‘The Lost Ones’, which was dramatised into the film ‘The Island at the Top of the World’ in 1974 by Walt Disney. In this book, Payne explores the history of exploration by sea. He begins looking at ancient Egyptian and Greek voyages, ending with a look at explorations in the twentieth century. He also raises questions about who really discovered Americans, and if the Phoenicians did circumnavigate Africa two thousand years before Dias. With prior owner’s ink inscriptions to the recto of the front endpaper. With sixteen photographic plates, both in colour and black and white. Collated; complete.

Condition

In the original publisher’s cloth binding with the original price-clipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine.
