What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

Arthur Godfrey was one of the men who went on the 1935 - 1936 Oxford University Arctic Expedition, being isolated in the freezing north for fourteen months. Godfrey's telling of his experience is insightful and humorous, focusing more of the personal side of it, rather than the professional reason that the expedition set out. He states that he went on the expedition only for adventure and enjoyment and that he had to look up the terms 'ecology' and 'glaciology' in the dictionary. Including a chapter on his homeward journey, being alone for two months in a Norwegian sealer, and of hunting seals, walruses, and bears. With a frontispiece and illustrated map endpapers by K C Jordan.
