The first edition of this work.

'Turkey in Europe' is an explorative travel work looking into Turkey and the Turkish influence on Europe.

Illustrated with two colour folding maps.

Written by Charles Eliot under the pseudonym Odysseus. Eliot was a British diplomat, who was the Commissioner of British East Africa in 1900 to 1904.

Bookplate to the front pastedown, 'James William Macarthur Onslow'. Onslow was a soldier, grazier, and politician, who was from a prominent New South Wales family.

Thirty-two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Light spots and marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Some spots to the fore edge. Bookplate to the front pastedown, and pencil inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with just a couple of handling marks.
