Colour Plates, Fine Binding, First Edition, Illustrated

The first edition of this work. Illustrated, with a frontipsiece, eleven colour plates, and one sketch map of Italy. In a prize binding, with the crest of Queen Elizabeth Girls' school of Barnet to the front board. Prize bookplate to the front pastedown, addressed to 'W H Wall' and dated 1909. A fine Bickers and Son binding, with the binder's stamp to the verso of front endpaper. With chapters on the Alps, Italian Lakes, Sicily, Rome and Naples. A lovely travelogue, giving an account of Italy at the turn of the twentieth century.

Condition

In a full calf binding, with gilt stamping to the front board and spine. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear to the head and tail of spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
