Second edition, published the same year as the first edition. Scarce in any edition. 'A Yorkshireman Abroad' is a interesting work of travel writing by E. J. Smith documenting his 6 month journey from England to South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Signed by the author, with a ink inscription to the front endpaper which reads, 'The author wishes you to accept this token of his admiration & esteem. E.J. Smith 25/10/15'. With a portrait of the author to the frontispiece and 27 illustrated plate throughout. Excluding the portrait, all illustrations are reproductions of photographs taken by the author. Collated complete. An attractive travel work, which should appeal to those with an interest in travel, or those with an connection to the authors home-county of Yorkshire.
Condition
In a full cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine, with rubbing to the extremities. Light spotting to the fore edge. Ink inscription to the front endpaper. Rubbing and handling marks to the front and rear endpapers and pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally clean with the odd spot, heavier to the first and last pages. There is also the occational handling mark.
