The map was unprecedented for its time, as it was very nearly on a scale of one inch to the mile, measuring at six feet tall when mounted.
Illustrated with thirteen loose folding maps, as issued.
Joel Gascoyne is known for being a important figure in the history of cartography, pioneering large scale county maps, and for setting new standards of accuracy.
Condition
In the original publisher's paper covered slipcase, booklet in the original paper wraps. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages and maps are bright and clean. Slipcase with a few minor marks. Slipcase in a near fine condition.
