The first edition of this work. Complete in two volumes. This detailed work is an authoritative account of the political and social developments of Japan. Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, and eleven plates. Volume II illustrated with eleven plates. Collated, complete. Collated from Jisc from a copy held at the British Library. Written by Arthur May Knapp. Library labels to the front pastedowns. Numerical ik inscription to the verso to the front free endpapers.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Cracks to the joints of Volume II. Light marks and some discolouration to the boards and spines. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Institutional label to the front pastedowns. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with only a couple of light spots.
