Early Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

Porter was an Irish Presbyterian minister who became an academic administrator. He wrote several books on the Middle East and Asia including his 'Handbook for Travellers in Syria and Palestine. 

This work was republished several times and is split into several sections which discusses Jerusalem and its Environs, Galilee and the Sea-Coast, the Northern Border Land as well as 'The Land of the Philistines'. 

Told through the lens of a missionary. 

Illustrated, with a frontispiece, pictorial title page and several full page plates.

Condition

In the publisher's original binding. Externally, generally smart with patches of very light rubbing to the boards. Minor bumping to the head and tail of spine. Hinges are slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with occasional scattered spots to pages, heavier to the first and last few pages.
