A scarce facsimile of the original 1904 edition.

Illustrated, with a folding plan and numerous in-text photographs. 

Written by Patrick Geddes, a Scottish biologist, sociologist, geographer, philanthropist and pioneering town planner. He was innovative in the fields of urban planning and sociology. He coined the term 'conurbation'. 

Geddes was commissioned by the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust to look into converting the private Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline to a space for public use. This report discusses the various factors in the park's development including conservation of existing structures, purification of streams, the option of museums, galleries and much more. 

Presentation bookplate to the front pastedown, 'Presented on the occasion of the Third Annual Dinner of the Stern Holdings Group'. 

With an introduction on the author by Peter Green.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Light fading to the gilt at the spine. Prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
