The author's presentation copy, inscribed to the recto to the front endpaper, 'Mrs Pidduck. with the author's affectionate regards. Chelsea, June 8th 1844', with the following inscription 'Given by her to dear Mrs Tinney, July 26 1869 by whom Plate 4 + Plate 16 will be valued'.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, twenty-eight plates, and some in-text illustrations.

Written by Peter Hall, an English cleric and topographer.
Bookplate to the front pastedown, 'Vere L. Oliver, 1913'. Oliver was a British surgeon and genealogist, who was a fellow of the Society of Antiquities of London.
In a quarter morocco binding with paper to the boards. Externally, with rubbing to the boards and spine. Tidemark to the front board. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and heavier bumping to the extremities. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Author and prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some spots. Plates have offset a little. A couple of ink and pencil annotations to the margins.
