A set of eight volumes from Collins' ''New Naturalist Library', a series of books offering a variety of natural history topics relevant to the British Isles. 

The series gained popularity for its use of eminent experts as authors whilst still maintaining a highly readable style. Covering a range of subjects, such as the native flowers of Britain's coasts and the natural history of London. 

This set contains the following titles and their respective plates, all of which are collated and complete.

1945 London's Natural History by R. S. R. Fitter - Forty colour plates and thirty-two monochrome. 

1946 British Game by Brian Vesey-Fitzgerald - Twenty-four colour plates and forty-eight monochrome. 

1950 Wild Flowers of Chalk and Limestone by J. E. Lousley - Forty-eight colour plates and twenty-four monochrome. 

1951 A Natural History of Man by H. J. Fleure and Margaret Davies - Thirty-two colour plates and thirty-two monochrome. 

1951 Wild Orchids of Britain by V. S. Summerhayes - Forty-eight colour plates and twenty-four monochrome. 

1951 Birds and Men: The Bird Life of British Towns, Villages, Gardens and Farmland by E. M. Nicholson - Forty colour plates and thirty-two monochrome. 

1952 Flowers of the Coast by Ian Hepburn - Sixteen colour plates and forty monochrome.

Condition

In the original green cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities, mainly to the spine heads and tails. Front hinge to 'Wild Orchids' is tender. A few marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with occasional spots, heaviest to the first and last couple leaves. Offsetting to the endpapers. With an Eton Prize bookplate to the front free endpaper of 'History of Man'. Contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper of 'British Game'.
