First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

The first and only edition of this work. 

Extremely scarce, with no copies on LibraryHub. One copy at the National Army museum only. 

With a photograph of Raggie to the front wrap. Ragtime was the pony's full name and served as a mount for troop inspections and for polo games. He served in Mesopotamia during the First World War and was separated from Willoughby when the latter returned to India in 1916.  Willoughby later recognised Ragtime at a polo event a year later and they were reunited, serving together until the end of the war. 

Inscription to the foreword, 'Sibyl Willoughby, July 1931'.  Sibyl Willoughby was married to Hon Claude Henry Comaraich Willoughby. 

This autobiography was initially sold to raise funds for veteran horses of the First World War.

Condition

In the publisher's original wraps. Externally, generally smart. Chips to the extremities of the wraps. A few light spots to the wraps. Textblock is detached from wrappers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with just the odd spot.
