This fascinating work attempts to place the coins of the Roman Empire in their historical setting and is hence organised in chronological order; from the beginning of the Empire to the third century wars of Gallienus. This is a first Anglo-American edition copy published in 1968. With charming in-text illustrations throughout.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with elaborate gilt decoration and title to the front board. Externally lovely, with minor shelfwear to extremities and head and tail of spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages very slightly age toned to extremities, but very bright and clean throughout.
