First Edition. More than ten years in the making, this catalogue includes 789 illustrations of 357 medals and 109 plaquettes, on 144 plates, printed on both sides. More than 100 of the objects have never before been published. "Bowdoin College's art collection came into existence in 1811, nine years after the College opened, when James Bowdoin III gave 142 master drawings, including View of Waltersburg by Pieter Brueghel the Elder" - Flyleaf.

In the original publisher's cloth binding in the original dustwrapper. Externally, smart. Minor shelfwear to the boards. Light edgewear to the dustwrapper, with a little sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
