Illustrated throughout, with examples of touch marks and makers' marks as well as photographs of various collections of pewter. Written by a prolific author in this field, William Redman. Redman also penned works on further types of metal forming and collecting such as 'The Jeweller's Guide and Handy Reference Book', 'Hall Marks on Silver Plate and Jewellers', 'Money, Currency, precious Metals, Hall Marks, etc'. With advertisements of further works by William Redman pasted to the recto of front endpaper. To the rear pastedown there is an advertisement for a work titled 'Old Sheffield Plate' which assisted Redman's writing of this work.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Gilt stamping to the front board has faded slightly in colour. Light rubbing to the joints and to the head and tail of spine. Very minor bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Light offsetting to the endpapers. Internally, generally firmly bound with some straining in places. Pages are bright with just the occasional spot.
