What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

The Badminton Library, originally published in twenty-eight volumes between 1885 and 1896, was a sporting and publishing project conceived and founded by Henry Somerset 8th Duke of Beaufort. It developed into a series of sporting books which aimed to cover all major sports and pastimes, with each volume written by experts who were authorities in their fields. This a deluxe edition copy of this first edition work; in a half crushed morocco binding with bright orange boards, and a gilt coat of arms to the front board and gilded top page edges. Copiously illustrated throughout with in-text woodcut illustrations and twelve black and white plates.

Condition

In the publisher's original half crushed morocco binding, with orange cloth over boards. Externally very smart, with slight rubbing to extremities. Rubbing and slight fading to spine, as expected with this colour binding. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to extremities but bright, with scattered spots to fore edge of pages, visible to textblock. Heavier spotting to first and last few pages, and the occasional page.
