King Solomon's Mines is a thrilling adventure novel that tells the story of an expedition through an untrodden region of Africa. Sir Henry Rider Haggard was a British writer specialising in romantic adventure novels often set in exotic settings, predominantly Africa, and is considered the father of the 'lost world' literary genre. This work, in particular, is considered one of the earliest examples of the genre.
Illustrated by Scottish artist and illustrator, Russell Flint, who was best known for his watercolour paintings. With thirty-two illustrations. Collated, complete.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial cloth. Externally, very good, with light bumping and a little rubbing to the extremities. Light rubbing to boards. The Times Book Club label to the rear paste down. Hinges are a touch strained but holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with the odd spot. With a previous owners ink inscription date 1907 to the front blank. A closed tear to the folding map.
