A first edition. In the publisher's original cloth binding with unclipped dust wrapper. A collection of four essays based on the 'T. S. Eliot Memorial Lectures' delivered by W. H. Auden at the University of Kent in 1967.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt detail to the spine. Externally, excellent with very light shelf wear. Some light offsetting to the rear paste-down and free endpaper. The original unclipped dustwrapper is in smart condition. Marks to the panels and age-toning to the edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean. Some spotting to the fore-edge.
