These reports show the efforts of the Society to investigate and research the possibility of engineering a method of flying, to produce a flying machine. The reports were published in the years leading up to the first successful flight in 1903. In these reports you can see their scientific and mathematical efforts. The RAeS is dedicated to the global aerospace community, and is the oldest aeronautical society in the world. In the years 1870-71, they sponsored the first wind tunnel which was designed by the members Wenham and Browning.
