What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated

The first edition of the work. Collated complete with six coloured plates and sixty four monochrome plates by Frank H Mason. Frank Henry Mason was an artist best known for his maritime, shipping and coastal paintings. He also created a number of art deco travel and railway posters. Born in Hartlepool, he trained as a marine engineer for steam powered ships. Whilst he had no formal training in art, by 1902 he was frequently exhibiting at the Royal Society of British Artists. This fascinating work focuses on the deep-sea fishers of the North Sea, including their development and a study on the different fishers and trawlers. Walter Wood was a prolific author on the subject and wrote a number of books on fishing including 'Men of the North Sea' and 'Tales of Great Events'. A beautifully illustrated work regarding fishing in the North Sea.
