Description

Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Uncommon, With Dustwrapper

Robert C. Davis is a professor of Italian Renaissance and pre-modern Mediterranean history and has published a variety of books detailing the history of the Italian Renaissance. Primarily focused on social history, Davis attempts to reconstruct the lives of ordinary people within the period, from 'the men who built ships for the Venetian navy' within this text, 'Shipbuilders of the Venetian Arsenal', to 'the public brawlers and their popular codes of violence and honor in working-class Venice' in his 1994 text, 'The War of the Fists'. Within this text Davis comprehensively details the history of ship building in seventeenth-century Venice, drawing on a huge variety of documents and historical archives. In the original unclipped dustwrapper designed by Martha Farlow, also in an excellent condition. Collated, complete with numerous graphs, maps, figures and tables.
