    Illustrated, Leather Binding

    Complete in two volumes.

    A detailed ornithological work focusing on the birds commonly found on the British Isles.

    Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, thirteen plates, and in-text illustrations. Collated, complete.

    Volume II illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, eleven plates, and in-text illustrations. Collated, complete.

    Written by Robert Mudie, an author and newspaper editor. His other ornithological works included 'The Natural History of Birds'.

    This edition revised by W. C. L. Martin.

    The fourth edition of this work.

    Condition

    In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Some marks to the boards and spines. Lacking the spine labels. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Light fading to the front board of Volume I. Small crack to the head of the front joint of Volume I. Hinges of Volume I is a little strained but remains firm. Hinges of Volume II are starting but firm. Evidence of a label being formerly adhered to the front pastedown of Volume I. Frontispiece and front endpapers of Volume I are detached but present. Internally, pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some spots.
