The first edition of this work. A collection of essays and articles discussing various aspects of medicine. Looking at hereditary diseases, bleeding in affections of the brain, sudorific medicines, the connection of some diseases, gout, medical prescriptions, epidemics, diluents, medical treatment of old age, the use of opiates, phrenology, and many more subjects. Written by Sir Henry Holland, a British physician, who was also the cousin of the novelist Elizabeth Gaskell. He was also the Physician Extraordinary to both William IV and Queen Victoria. Holland also travelled much and published works on his travel experiences . With sixteen pages of publisher's adverts to the rear.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Some light rubbing and marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. A very small amount of loss to the head of the joints. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with only the odd spot.
