Interesting library plate to the front board, Norfolk and Norwich Library. Library plate to the front pastedown. With the erratum to the verso of contents page. A rather rare title and an interesting first hand account. With chapters on the importance of hospitals and how they differ from other benevolent institutions. The author gives his own account of a stay in a London hospital, other patient diaries, alternative medicine, chapters on delirium, medicines, inner life of a hospital and much more.

Condition

In a half calf binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart, with light shelfwear to the extremities. Bookplate to the front board for Norfolk and Norwich Library and front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Chips to the half-title and to the title page. The odd spots to pages.
