What Our Customers Say...

Description

Leather Binding, Very Scarce

Rebound, in a quarter calf binding with paper covered boards. The first American edition of this work, complete with half title. A very scarce work, in any edition. This first American Edition was published a year after the first London Edition. With the library stamp of the 'Long Island Historical Society' to the title page. This selection of lectures were prepared for publication posthumously by George Skinner who was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons. Skinner attended these lectures, which were delivered at St Bartholomew's Hospital and he therefore took notes of the lectures. With irregular pagination, though the work appears complete. The lectures discuss female diseases, labour, post-partum diseases, general treatment of women following delivery, and diseases of children. A smart first edition copy of this midwifery work. A comprehensive study and practical guidance to midwifery, written by a contemporaneously international authority on the subject.
