The twelfth edition of this work. 'The Chemical Catechism' is an educational work on chemistry, discussing various basic to advanced questions on the subject, discussing water, earth, acids, salts, metals, combustion, and more. This work was written for the education of the author's daughter. With a frontispiece, one folding plate, and one plate. Written by Samuel Parkes. Parkes is now best known for this work, and for working as a manufacturing chemist. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front pastedown, 'Miss M. A. Davies'. With two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. Collated, complete.
Condition
In a full calf binding. Externally, smart. A little marking to the spine. Light bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is weak. Rear hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot, a little heavier to the plates.
