Leather Binding, Signed Binding

A new impression of this work. In a Relfe Brothers binding, with the binder's stamp to the vero of front endpaper. Prior owner's bookplate to the recto of front endpaper, Ann Elizabeth Fildes, Rose Cottage, Gillbank, Hawkskead, Ambleside. Richard A Proctor was well versed in writing scientific guide books, he also penned 'Rough Ways made Smooth', 'Myths and Marvels of Astronomy' and many more works. This particular title deals with topics such as 'Oxygen in the Sun', 'Drifting Light Waves', 'The Gorilla and Other Apes', 'Ozone' and much more.

Condition

In a full calf binding with gilt stamping to the front board and to the spine. Externally, smart with bumping to the extremities. Several marks to the boards. Light rubbing to the joints and to the head and tail of spine. Bound by Relfe Brothers, with the binder's stamp to the verso of front endpaper. Prior owner's bookplate to the recto of front endpaper, Ann Elizabeth Fildes. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with just the odd spot.
