Complete in two volumes. John Brady's look at the history of significant days of the year, including saints days, days of coronation and royal births, and historic dates, such as the day of the Great Fire of London in 1666. This includes a history on Saint Barnabas, Saint Alban, Saint John the Baptist, and Saint Peter. Also included is the coronation of King George III, the birthday of the Prince of Wales, and a note of the longest day of the year. Brady was a clerk who also wrote 'The Credulity of our Forefathers' and 'Varieties of Literature'. With seven plates to Volume I. With an errata to Volume I. Book plate to the front pastedowns, 'Samuel R. Block'. Bookseller label to the bottom of the front pastedowns, 'B. H. Blackwell LTD Booksellers, 48-51 Broad Street Oxford, England'.

Condition

In the original half crushed morocco binding with paper to the boards. Externally, sound. The odd mark and rubbing to the boards. The odd light spot to the boards. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Rubbing to the extremities has caused a little loss. Light tidemarks to the head of the front boards. Slight rubbing to the spine. Head of spine to Volume I is lifting but remains firm. Head of spine to Volume II is lightly lifting but remains firm. Book plate to the front pastedowns, 'Samuel R. Block'. Bookseller label to the bottom of the front pastedowns, 'B. H. Blackwell LTD Booksellers, 48-51 Broad Street Oxford, England'. Offsetting to the recto to the front endpaper. Front hinges are starting but firm. Rear hinge of Volume II is weak. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with the odd scattered spot and handling mark throughout. Light offsetting to some pages due to plates in Volume I.
