Leather Binding, Very Scarce
With the bookplate of Rev. Reuben S Brookes to the recto of front endpaper. Brookes penned the work 'Sects in Judaism' and 'A Guide to Jewish Names'. Prior owner's notes to the verso of title page. The 'Conciliator' is an attempt to reconcile apparent discrepancies in various parts of the Hebrew Bible. Volume I is The Pentateuch' and Volume II is 'The Prophets and Hagiography'. Two volumes bound as one.
Condition
In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Fading to the spine and extremities. Occasional scattered spots to the boards. Prior owner's bookplate to the recto of front endpaper, Reverend Reuben S Brookes. Residue of tape to the title page from previous reinforcement. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with occasional spots. The odd line to the margin.
