This sermon was originally delivered at the opening of St. Mary's Church in Derby, a Catholic church, opened on the 9th October 1839.
The church is a Roman Catholic church, now a Grade II listed building, that was designed by the architect A. W. N. Pugin, his in Gothic Revival style.
Written and delivered by Nicholas Wiseman, a Cardinal of the Catholic Church, who was the first Archbishop of Westminster.
Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the title page.
In the original paper wraps. Externally, smart. A small amount of discolouration and a few minor spots to the wraps. Small crack to the tail of the spine. Small crease to the rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and clean with the odd light spot.
