In the original Latin. The third edition of this work. Volume one only, incomplete as volume one out of a four volume set. This work is a quarto, the signatures running as )(4, )()(2, a-d4, e1, A-Z4, Aa-Zz4, Aaa-Zzz4. A collection of Catholic sermons. The contents pages shows each sermon, detailed with the theme of the sermon, the bible passage they are referring to, and a short synopsis for easy browsing for the reader. This was the author's major work. Written by Joseph Ignatz Claus, a Catholic priest. He was known for his sermon literatures in German and Latin. He was ordained in Augsburg in 1717. His grave is in the Augsburg Cathedral. Bookplate to the front pastedown, 'Ex Bibliotheca Seminarii S. Joannis', with ink inscriptions to the bookplate. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper, 'Bequeathed by Canon W. Murname R.I.P.'.

In the original calf binding. Externally, boards are detached but present. Some rubbing to the boards and spine. Lacking spine label. A little bumping to the extremities. Front endpaper and front free endpaper are attached to the detached front board. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper. Leaf Zzz4, the rear endpaper, and the rear free endpaper are attached to the detached rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with scattered foxing. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the title page. Ink and pencil notes from a prior owner to the margins throughout. Tidemark to the margin from page 153 to 156. Closed tear to page 497/8, no loss of text.
