Description

Fine Binding, Illustrated

With an illuminated gilt frontispiece, title page and several full page illustrations. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Undated, dated using LibraryHub. A vast collection of hymns, from the reformation to the nineteenth century. To the preface, the editor writes 'This volume of selections from the treasures of British Hymnology is offered in the sincere hope that, as the before-mentioned quaint title-page has it, these hymns may be accepted in many 'private houses, for their godly solace and comfort'. A beautiful collection of these devotional works.

Condition

In a full crushed morocco binding. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing to the joints and extremities. Front hinge is strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Light spots to the first few pages, otherwise just the odd spot.
