In six volumes. 'Daily Scripture Readings' complete in four volumes. 'Memoirs' incomplete in two volumes, being Volumes I and II of a total of IV volumes.

A collection of the sermons and scripture readings of Thomas Chalmers.

With two volumes of William Hanna's biography on Chalmers.

'Memoirs' Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece and vignette title page.

'Memoirs' Volume II illustrated with a vignette title page and a folding plate.

Thomas Chalmers was a Scottish minister, and a leader of the Church of England and the Free Church of Scotland. It's considered that Chalmers is the greatest nineteenth-century Scottish churchman.

The memoir was written by Chalmer's son-in-law, William Hanna. Hanna was also a Scottish minister, and this biography is his best known work.

Condition

In a half calf signed binding by David Bryce & Son, with cloth to the boards. Externally, near fine, with a small amount of bumping to the extremities, and a few light marks to the boards. A little fading to the head of the rear board of 'Memoirs' Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd scattered spot. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the title page of 'Scriptures' Volumes I, II, and IV, and 'Memoirs' Volume I and II.
