Illustrated, Leather Binding, Very Scarce

Very scarce. Contemporary ink signature to front blank, dated July 26th 1847. Collated complete with twelve engraved plates. Plate entitled 'Infanticide in India' is misbound at page 320. Volume One of the New Series, containing January to December 1846. The Englishwoman's Magazine was an informative collection of articles, edited by Mrs Milner. The work covered a variety of subjects, all of which addressed from a Christian perspective. The work is wide ranging in scope and includes articles regarding education, poetry and biographies of famous authors.

Condition

In a half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally sound. Front board is held by cords only and may detach if not carefully handled. Rubbing to the boards and extremities. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with occasional spotting, slightly heavier to the plates. Marginal age toning. Contemporary ink signature to front blank.
