Leather Binding, Very Scarce

A very scarce work.

Illustrated with a engraved title page and decorative head and tail pieces, and illuminated initials.

Includes in Latin and English the text of a manuscript on the subject found at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, and an excerpt from an epistle of Erasmus on the subject of marriage and the clergy.

Written by Joseph Hall, an English bishop and satirist, who is known for his vigorous and effective polemical writings.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, the binding is split in two. The front board is held by cords only, and the rear board is detached but present. Minor bumping to the extremities. Small worm holes to the rear board. Some loss to the head and tail fo the spine. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some odd spots and the odd handing mark. Small worm hole to the head of the first few pages. Chip to the top edge of the title page, and edgewear to the title page. Page 147 is detached but present.
