'The Burlington Magazine' is a monthly publication, covering fine and decorative arts. 

The magazine was established in 1903, and is the longest running art journal in English. It was established by Roger Fry, Herbert Horne, Bernard Berenson, and Charles Holmes.

Volume I, containing Numbers I,II, and III. Illustrated with one folding colour plate, one colour plate, thirty-seven plates, and in-text illustrations to Number I, thirty-four plates, and in-text illustrations to number II, and two colour plates, thirty plates, and in-text illustrations to Number III. Collated, complete.

Volume II, containing Numbers IV, V, and VI. Illustrated with twenty-six plates, and in-text illustrations to Number IV, forty-six, and in-text illustrations to Number V, and twenty-nine plates, and in-text illustrations to Number VI. Collated, complete.

Volume IV, containing Numbers X, XI, and XII. Illustrated with twenty-seven plates, and in-text illustrations to Number X, one colour plate, twenty-two plates, and in-text illustrations to Number XI, and one colour plates, thirty plates, and in-text illustrations to Number XII. Collated, complete.

Volume V, containing Numbers XIII, XIV, and XV. Illustrated with two colour plates, twenty-five plates, and in-text illustrations to Number XIII, one colour plate, thirty-four plates, and in-text illustrations to Number XIV, and twenty-seven plates, and in-text illustrations to Number XV. Volume V Number XIII has had pages 93-96 excised, with 3 plates missing from those pages, and is lacking the plate facing page 101.

Condition

In a half vellum binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart. A little discolouration to the vellum, as is usual. Minor marks to the boards and spines. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Mark to the front joint of Volume II. Heavier marks to the rear board of Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot. Tidemark to the plates of Volume I. Pages 69-74 of Volume II are detached but present. Evidence that some of the plates of Volume IV had been formerly stuck together a little at the heads, with some of the plates to the latter half of the work still being stuck together at the head. Prior owner's ink to plate to page 176 of Volume V. Plates to pages 15 and 17 in Volume V are detached but present. Volume V Number XIII has had pages 93-96 excised, with 3 plates missing from those pages, and is lacking the plate facing page 101.
