Bernard Burke was a genealogist who's father, John Burke, founded 'Burke's Peerage'. He took over the publications when his father died, after having assisted his father at his work. Burke also published over works, including 'The Roll of Battle Abbey', 'The Romance of the Aristocracy', and 'The Romance of the Forum'.

The General Armory of England and Scotland is an important historical work, detailing the armorial bearings from their origin to present day.

Condition

Rebacked, with the original spine laid down. Externally very smart with rubbing to the boards and extremities. Hinges have been reinforced.Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with marginal age toning. Tidemark to the extremity of the first three leaves.
