    A limited edition work, limited to three-hundred and twenty-five copies, of which three hundred were offered for sale.

    A new and enlarged edition of this work, which is generally considered to be the best edition. The spines states that this is the second edition.

    Volume I illustrated with thirty-five chromolithograph plates, two monochrome plates, and many in-text engravings.

    Volume II illustrated with twenty-three chromolithograph plates, six monochrome plates, and many in-text engravings.

    Collated, complete.

    Complete in two volumes.

    An extensive treatise on heraldry, focusing on British heraldry, though also discussing global families. 

    Woodward delves deeply into the history of the coat of arms of many prominent families from across the world.

    Written by John Woodward, the Rector of St. Mary's Church in Montrose.

    Condition

    In a half morocco binding with cloth to the boards, rebacked with the original boards and spines restored. Externally, generally smart. Joints of Volume II are rubbed. Minor marks and spots to the boards and spines. Light bumping to the extremities, and to the head and tail of the spine of Volume II. Head of the spine of Volume II is lifting a little. Front hinge of Volume II is strained but remains firm, rear hinge is starting but firm. Internally, Volume I is tightly bound, Volume II is firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with just a couple of light spots.
