What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Folding Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

Scarce in the original parts.

Illustrated, with two engraved title pages, 42 engraved plates (1 folding), in addition to over 2000 in-text illustrations.

This encyclopaedia covers almost every aspect of engineering and manufacturing in addition to containing a lecture on the Great Exhibition.

Tomlinson's Cyclopaedia was an instant success, with a new edition issued less than ten years later. Tomlinson was strongly involved in the creating of the entries for this work.

A valuable source of information regarding the 'how' of handicraft, industry and manufacturing. The encyclopaedia was in fact created to celebrate the Great Exhibition and the introduction is a grand lecture on the topic.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light bumping to the head and tail of spines. Loss to the head and tail of spines. Hinges are slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with occasional scattered spotting.
