A collection of seventy-four volumes of works published by the Sussex Archaeological Society.

The society was founded in 1846, and is thus one of the oldest county-based archaeological societies in the UK. They started publishing these collections in 1848, publishing almost continuously with only a few gaps. It was sent to members and subscribers. CONDITION

In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light fading to some of the spines. Front hinge of Volume XLIII is starting but firm. Bookplate to the front pastedown of Volume LIV, ‘W. Clarkson Wallis, Brighton’. ‘Chelsea Public Libraries’ bookplate front pastedown Volume XXVIII. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Some pages uncut to the fore edge. Folding plate facing page 104 in XLIV is working loose. Folding map in Volume XLIX is detached but present. Volume LVII is lacking pages 129 to 148. Some tidemarks to the pages of Volume LX. Light dampstaining to the fore edges of pages to Volume LXI. Volume LXI with a small closed tear to the top edge of page 111/112. Small chip to the bottom edge of page 41 of Volume LXII, not affecting text.

Overall Condition: Very Good Indeed
