DETAILS

A complete nineteen volume run of 'The Powys Journal', from the journal's first publication in 1991 to volume XIX in 2009.

'The Powy's Journal' is an annual publication dedicated to the study of the life of John Cowper, Theodore and Llewelyn Powys and other members of the Powys family, containing reviews, details of forthcoming publications and events, previously unpublished Powys letters, extracts from Powys journals and much more besides. 'The Powys Journal' is published by the Powys Society, a charity dedicated to promoting and encouraging the appreciation and enjoyment of the writings of the literary Powys in order to firmly establish the family's 'true literary status'. The society was founded in 1967 for this very purpose, and to this day publishes three newsletters a year. Moreover, the society also organises an annual weekend conference, occasional meetings, exhibitions and walks in areas associated with the Powys family. 'The Powys Journal' is currently on its twenty eight volume. With the following pagination: 152pp; 231pp [1pp]; 238pp [2pp]; 236pp; 232pp; 240pp; 208pp; 248pp; 219pp; 208pp; 223pp; 152pp; 256pp [folding plate]; 168pp; 168pp; 184pp; 160pp; 176pp; 192pp. With the cover and title page designed by Bev Craven. Illustrated with facsimile of important documents, and photographs of the Powys family. Coloured illustrations to volume XIX. Volume XIII features a folding family tree to the rear. Volume I, II, and IV contain loosely inserted handwritten letters from the treasurer of the Powys Society, Stephen Powys Marks, dated 'January 17th 1992' and 'September 11th 1992', on 'Powys Society' headed paper. Volume VI also features a typed letter from prior owner 'Sally Connely' to Stephen Powys Marks.
