A collection of Sir Walter Scott's 'Waverley' series.

Volumes I-III of the four volume set published as the 'Copyright Edition'.

Lacking volume IV.

Frontispiece to all volumes and a vignette title page per story.

Comprising of the following:

volume I: Waverley, Guy Mannering, The Antiquary, Rob Roy, Old Morality, The Black Dwarf and a Legend of Montrose, The Bridge of Lammermoor.
Volume II: The Heart of Midlothian, Ivanhoe, A Romance, The Monastery, The Abbot, Kenilworth, The Pirate
Volume III: The Tailsman, The Two Drovers etc, Woodstock, The Fair Maid of Perth, Anne of Geierstein, Count Robert of Paris, The Surgeon's Daughter, Castle Dangerous.

Sir Walter Scott is remembered for his large repertoire of historical fiction. By profession Scott was an advocate, judge and legal administrator. 

CONDITION

In half calf bindings. Externally, worn. Heavy rubbing to the spines, joints and extremities. Front hinge to volume I has failed with the backstrip lifting from textblock. Rear hinge is slightly strained but firm. Prior owner's plate to front pastedown to volume I. Both hinges to volume II have failed with the backstrip and binding detached from textblock. Rear hinge to volume III has failed with the backstrip detached from textblock. Front hinge is strained but firm. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned. Spotting to the first and last few pages with scattered spotting elsewhere.     Closed tear to final leaf of volume I. Overall: GOOD ONLY.
