Kelly's Directory

Of Kent, Surrey and Sussex

Excluding Those Places in Kent and Surrey Within the London Postal Area.

By Kelly's Directories Ltd.

1934 - London - Kelly's Directories Ltd.

 10.5" by 7" ; 27pp, [1], xxxii, 1153pp, [3], iv-viii, 794pp, [2], iii-viii, 977pp

DETAILS

A 20th century Kelly's Directory of Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

With a large colour folding map to the start of the volume.

This work is divided to the three counties it discusses, with clear indicators to the foredge.

Kelly's Directory was a trade directory in the UK which listed all businesses and tradespeople in a town in addition to a directory of postal addresses of local gentry, landowners, charities and other facilities.

The directories were first published during the Victorian era and the works are a useful historical source.

CONDITION

In original cloth binding with blind stamping and gilt stamping to the boards and spine. Externally, generally smart. Small patches of damp staining to boards and a few light tidemarks, not affecting the internals. Minor bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Patches of light rubbing the boards and a few handling marks. Crease to the spine as expected with a volume of this size. Both hinges are slightly strained but firm. Small loss to the head and tail of first few pages as a result of chipping. Large folding map bound at title page is torn at the gutter from the top to halfway down and affects a small portion of the map. Internally, volume is firmly bound. Throughout several plants have been pressed. Some leaves and flowers and seeds remain internally. Offsetting and slight staining to page 388-389 of Surrey section from flowers being pressed. Pages are generally bright. Light scattered spots throughout. Overall: GOOD.

What a blazing fast delivery ! Must be the heat .... Thanks very much - the books did not disappoint. As described, well packed, well priced, and delivered speedily (and without tripping a tax invoice from Canada Revenue Agency, which is a bonus). I could not have hoped for more.
