DETAILS

A two volume set of Donovan's Domestic Economy.

With an illustrated titlepage to each volume.

Direct from the Regency library which was started by  Elizabeth Greenly, later Lady Elizabeth Coffin Greenly. Elizabeth Greenly, born at Titley Court, Herefordshire, was a noted and varied collector. She kept prolific diaries from 1784 until her death in 1839 which included her responses to current events and occasions in her daily life. Among the diaries many names and anecdotes of celebrities of the time appear, including Lord Byron, Marie Antoinette, Mary Wollstonecraft and Hannah More. She was known to comment on customs of foreign countries to which she and her friends had travelled, and had a keen interest in scientific discoveries and advancements including medicine and archaeology.

The Greenly library contents show Elizabeth Greenly's numerous interests including: Welsh causes, Science, topography, travel, Bibliana and literature, particularly female poets. The library contains many first editions of contemporary works, and many are signed or contain her bookplate. The library contained over 1000 volumes which show the diversity and depth of her interests and give an insight into the life of this fascinating collector.

These works come directly from the library of the Titley Court estate.

Written by Michael Donovan, a professor of Chemistry, Materia Medica and Pharmacy in Ireland. With lots of interesting and useful information such as how to make vinegar, wine, cider. Volume II discusses both animals and vegetables found worldwide.

I just wanted to let you know that I am delighted with the books as well as how promptly and carefully you sent them.
Thank you for a pleasant transaction.

That is probably the fastest I think I’ve ever gotten anything in the mail. It came quicker than something I would have ordered from the U.S.! Second, these books are just so beautiful. I’ve loved books for quite some time now but am only beginning to collect antique books such as the ones I purchased. To me, holding essentially a piece of history from so long ago is an indescribable feeling. Because I am so happy with my package, I just felt compelled to write y’all an email.  In sum, I am an incredibly satisfied customer and will most definitely be shopping from your magnificent collection again.
