A collection of some of the works of G. Lenotre. Ouvrages de G. Lenotre with Mmoires et Souvenirs sur la Rvolution et l'Empire, publis avec les documents indits and Le Mystecisme Rvolutionnaire: Robespierre et la Mere de Dieu.

With illustrations to frontispiece to some volumes and plates to some volumes. With lists of series to front of some volumes.

In twenty-one volumes with paper wraps bound in to most volumes.

The first is fifteen volumes of the sixteen volume Ouvrages de G. Lenotre [The first volume La Guillotine pendant la Rvolution is absent].The volumes are as follows:

Le Vrai Chavalier de Maison-Rouge (1925) twenty-fifth edition with a plate to frontispiece.

The Baron de Batz (1924) twenty-fourth edition with a plate to frontispiece.

Paris Revolutionnaire (1926) forty-second edition with a plate to frontispiece and further plans and illustrations integrated with text.

Vieilles Maisons, Vieux Papiers 1re Srie (1926) twenty-fourth edition with a plate to frontispiece and a further six black and white plates.

Vieilles Maisons, Vieux Papiers 2e Srie (1927) sixty-eighth edition with a plate to frontispiece and a further nine black and white plates.

Les Massacres de Septembre (1792) (1926) thirty-third edition with a plate to frontispiece and a further six black and white plates.

Les Fils de Philippe-galit pendant le Terreur (1790-1796) (1926) twenty-third edition with a plate to frontispiece and a further three black and white plates.

La Fille de Louis XVI.Marie-Therese, Charlotte de Frances, Duchesse d'Angouleme (1794-1799) (1925) thirty-second edition with a plate to frontispiece and a further ten black and white plates.

Le Tribunal Rvolutionnaire (1793-95) (1926) thirty-fifth edition with a plate to frontispiece and a further seven black and white plates.

Les Noyades de Nanes (1793) (1925) twenty-eighth edition with a plate to frontispiece and a further five black and white plates.

Additionally is a volume entitled:

Le Mystecisme Rvolutionnaire: Robespierre et la Mere de Dieu (1926) twelfth edition with a plate to frontispiece and a further ten black and white plates.

G. Lenotre , whose real name is Louis Lon Thodore Gosselin (1855 - 1935) is a French  historian and playwright. A specialist in the history of the French Revolution using primary sources, he published a large number of books on the subject, in a form suitable for narrative and anecdotal style story that influenced historians such that Andr Castelot and Alain Decaux: he was considered as such during his lifetime as the "Pope of the story".

CONDITION

In quarter roan bindings with marbled paper covered boards. Externally, sound but with some wear to extremities, loss to some spine labels, the odd one absent, occasional loss to head and tail of spines and with slight rubbing and marks to boards and the odd slight closed tear. Four joints cracked, eight starting, one starting very slightly. One hinge, tender, one strained, one slightly strained. Internally, generally firmly bound but with the very odd page loose, reinforced with tape to gutter. Bright but with occasional age toning, more pronounced to some volumes, otherwise marginal, slight foxing to a few volumes and handling marks.

Overall: GOOD ONLY
