DETAILS

Scarce edition of Leonardo Nardini's Scelta Di Lettere Familiari Degli Autori Piu Celebri.

 

Bound in leather with gilt lettering and decorative borders.

 

A selection of letters from eminent Italians, with annotations, and a guide to pronunciation.

 

Bears the armorial bookplate of S.E. Widdrington on the front pastedown.

 

Volume 123 of the Biblioteca Scelta d i Opere Italiane (Select Library of Ancient and Modern Italian Works).

Samuel Edward Widdrington (formerly Cook), 1787 - 1856, was an English writer on Spain. Having served in the Royal Navy he lived for some years in Spain. He served as High Sheriff of Northumberland in 1854. He was a fellow of the Royal Society, and the Royal Geographical Society.

CONDITION

The binding is tight and firm. The front hinge is cracked but still firm. There is some mild slight wear to the extremities, including just some mild rubbing, prominent to the spine. The pages are generally clean and bright, with occasional light background foxing. Overall the condition is very good.
