First Edition, Leather Binding

Bound in half leather and marbled paper-covered boards, with gilt lettering. In Three Volumes, with Volume I and II bound together. Needing a rebind ideally and priced to alow for a good quality one. With numerous illustrations throughout the text by George Cattermole and Hablot Browne. Master Humphrey's Clock was a weekly periodical edited and written entirely by Charles Dickens and published from 1840 to 1841. It begins with a frame story in which Master Humphrey tells about himself and his small circle of friends and their penchant for telling stories. Several short stories are included, followed by the novels The Old Curiosity Shop and Barnaby Rudge, that were later published as separate works.

Condition

Bound in half leather and marbled paper-covered boards, with gilt lettering. There is mild wear to the extremities, including mild rubbing and edge wear. The hinges of volume 1 are slightly strained, and the front joint is starting. The bindings are generally tight and firm. Page 305 of volume 1 is partially detached. Internally the pages have slight browning and intermittent scattered foxing. There is a nameplate on the front pastedown of volume 1, and ink signatures on the front blank in each volume.
