Lovecraft, H. P.
H. P. Lovecraft is perhaps best known for his creation of the Cthulhu Mythos, a fictional sea creature who first appeared in the pulp magazine Weird Tales in 1928. Lovecraft had a long-standing relationship with the periodical, with many of his best known works first appearing first in this format. He died tragically young at 46 and without any of the wide recognition he now enjoys. His works were very original and pioneered many themes now part of the accepted cannon of supernatural science fiction. Often his stories detail science and scientific experiments that open a Pandora's box of horror that cannot again be closed, thus ensuring an enduring audience for his work.
